At the “La Calandria” Private Basic Education School, located in the beautiful parish of Vilcabamba, in the province of Loja, in southern Ecuador, we offer an alternative educational experience based on the Waldorf Methodology. We believe in respecting the unique development of each child and we work closely with parents, maintaining constant communication.

As one of the few institutions that practice alternative education methodologies in Ecuador, we are convinced that it is possible to offer a respectful educational approach that meets the needs of children.

At “La Calandria” Alternative Education School, we strive to provide an environment in which children can learn with joy, develop their own skills, and connect with the natural environment that surrounds us.

Our school was born in the sacred valley of Vilcabamba more than a decade ago in response to the demand for an alternative education in Ecuador, moving away from conventional educational methods. We focus on the integral development of each child, promoting multicultural integration in this beautiful place that is Vilcabamba.

The basis of our educational methodology is based on the combination of Steiner-Waldorf and Montessori pedagogy, adapted and updated to our time and context. We accompany each child in their development process, providing them with a safe and enriching space.

At our school, we take advantage of the privileged natural environment of the Vilcabamba Valley. Art and play are fundamental elements in our educational approach, combined with academic aspects. In this way, children enjoy their school time and make the most of learning, without feeling exhausted.
