At the Private Basic Education School "La Calandria", located in the parish of Vilcabamba (province of Loja, in the south of Ecuador) we are guided by an alternative education system based on the Waldorf Methodology, where we respect the development of each child and with constant feedback from parents, with whom we maintain constant communication.

We are part of a handful of institutions that practice different alternative education methodologies in Ecuador and we are convinced that respectful teaching methods towards children are possible.

The School of Alternative Education "La Calandria" was born in the sacred valley of Vilcabamba more than 10 years ago, as a response to the need for an alternative education in Ecuador, to the conventional one and that according to the development of each child and focused on their particular virtues, be a path towards multicultural integration, in a place like Vilcabamba.

Our methodology is based on Steiner-Waldorf and Montessori education, constantly updated to our time and environment. Accompanying each child in their development process.

In our approach to education, we take advantage of the nature that we enjoy in abundance in our natural environment in the Vilcabamba Valley.
Art and games, fused with academics, are an active part of our way of educating.

Thus, children enjoy their school time and make the most of learning without fatigue.
